In this Q&A with Daniel Seltzer, Evergold’s Executive Director, we delved into Evergold’s unique approach and what differentiates the program from traditional options.

As a seasoned leader, Daniel laid out how Evergold’s Life Plan at Home Program offers a revolutionary approach to aging in place, its mission to bring the comforts of senior living into the home, and the forward-thinking goals that drive the company.  

Q: Can you tell us about your career path and how you got to where you are today? 

I started off as a volunteer at an older adult day center and soon realized that I loved working with older adults. I then worked as an activity director at a nursing home, and eventually went back to school to get my MS in Gerontology and become a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in Texas. Before coming to Evergold, I served as an Executive Director in Assisted Living Communities in Louisiana and Ohio.

Q: Tell us a little more about Evergold’s core mission and the inspiration behind the company. 

Evergold’s mission is to help people live happily at home for life. Inspired by our personal experiences providing comprehensive support and care to aging individuals, we strongly believe that everyone deserves to live with independence. Our approach combines wellness management, care coordination, and financial solutions to ensure our members have the resources and support they need to thrive at home. We are committed to enhancing the quality of life of seniors, while also offering peace of mind to their families.

Q: You have been in the healthcare world for over a decade. Based on your experience, what makes Evergold unique? 

What sets Evergold apart is its holistic and proactive approach. Unlike traditional services, Evergold works with you from the day you join—before any problems arise—rather than wait until it’s too late to get involved. This ensures that members not only receive the physical support they need but also benefit from financial protection and a focus on overall well-being. And, our comprehensive and proactive method means that if something comes up down the road, we have a plan in place to make a swift and wise decision. 

Q: What distinguishes Evergold’s Life Plan at Home program from traditional long term care solutions?

Evergold's Life Plan at Home program is distinctive because it offers a more integrated and proactive process compared to traditional long-term care solutions. Most solutions are reactive, and only surface after an emergency has occurred. But because Evergold’s Life Plan at Home program emphasizes not just care provision but also wellness management and personalized planning, it’s designed to adapt to the changing needs of each member. This guarantees a seamless transition through different stages of later life and allows members to maintain their independence and quality of life at home, unlike most traditional care solutions which emphasize institutional care.

Q: How does Evergold's wellness management proactively support members' health?

Evergold's wellness management is designed to proactively support members' health through a personalized and comprehensive care plan. Each member has a dedicated wellness coordinator who tailors their plan to their specific needs and works with them to navigate the healthcare system. Our program is augmented with social and educational activities held monthly, collaboration with a dietitian, and partnerships with a therapy company for home safety assessments. Through all of these initiatives, we ensure that our members receive the care and support they need to maintain their health and independence.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering joining the Evergold Life Plan at Home program?

I’d advise someone who's thinking about joining our program to consider how they want to spend the next decade(s) of their life. Most people want to be independent and not burden their loved ones. But in order to do this, you have to plan ahead. Consider how a comprehensive plan that helps keep you healthy, manage care, and protect your independent lifestyle can help make your life easier and more secure. 

When thinking about joining the Evergold Life Plan at Home program, it's also important to factor in the potential costs of future care. A major benefit of Evergold is that it provides predictability on your care expenses, offering a clear picture of what you’ll spend on care for the rest of your life. This financial predictability, combined with the personalized wellness and support services, simplifies planning for your future.

Q: What are your short and long term goals for Evergold?

Our short-term goal is to raise awareness and educate our community about the advantages of our program. We know that Evergold can significantly enhance one’s later years, and we’re dedicated to making sure as many Ohioans as possible know that too. As we look down the road, we’re hoping to revolutionize senior living by bringing its benefits to peoples’ doorsteps so they don’t need to move. At the end of the day, we’re driven forward by our desire to help older adults enjoy their golden years in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. 

Q: When you’re not working, what do you like to do?

Outside of work, I like to spend time with my wife and three children, take long walks in nature, attend auctions, listen to music, and visit my hometown of New Orleans.
